| 8 of 9 people found the following review helpful  A good wireless scanner for basic 1D barcodes, By This review is from: TaoTronics 2.4GHZ Handheld Wireless USB Automatic Laser Barcode Scanner (Office Product)  When using a standard wired or stationary scanner, you usually have to bring the object to the scanner or at least close enough to your terminal that the wire is long enough for you to get the scanner to the barcode. But with a handheld wireless scanner, you can bring your gun to the item and point it in hard to reach places. This is great if you deal with big, bulky items or keep a lot of inventory far from your terminal that you'd like to track. The included cable is about 4 ft long and also transmits data when plugged into your computer or POS machine. But with the 60 hour battery life on a full charge, you won't have to have this scanner plugged in often. The scanner functions as you would expect. It reads only 1D type barcodes (UPC, ISBN etc.) so no 2D or QR codes. You should also note that you won't be able scan barcodes on mobile devices or computer screens. Its small enough that it is comfortable in your hands and is still lightweight to where you wont get tired of holding it for long periods of time. It comes with a cable to charge or for data transfer, a 2.4 GHz receiver, the scanner itself, and a very helpful user guide.The scanner is wireless, so it does not need to be plugged in to function. It has a 1500 mAh lithium battery that is rated to last up to 60 hours on a full charge. Mine came with battery and I still haven't had the need to charge it. The USB receiver is plug and play and worked when I put it in my Win 8.1 PC. Like I said earlier, the scanner had a nice feel to it. It is very lightweight and perfect for a small store, office, business, or school. The manual provided is amazing! It provides step by step instructions along with a lot of barcodes that can be scanned to change different settings. That said, this is complete honest! For awhile now, I was hoping to organize my books to keep a record of what I own. This barcode scanner should do the trick. I plan to make a database, and use this to check out books when friends and family borrow them. This thing is dead easy to use- just plug it in, let it install the drivers automatically, then aim and pull the trigger. Any place a keyboard input is allowed, this will insert the scanned code. It scans barcodes easily and doesn't take a lot of aiming and reangling to do. The item itself seems to be of good quality. I don't think it would last in a heavy retail environment, but in any home, office, or other environment that doesn't require heavy ruggedness, this will work great. For the price, it's definitely worth a try. |
